Our staff have over 30 years combined experience in the meat and smallgoods industry.

Meat on the Murray use only Australian grown and, when available, we source all of our products from local suppliers ensuring that you get only the freshest possible produce.

About Wade & family – Where it all began

My name is Wade Cofield and with my wife Sally, we are the owners of Meat on the Murray butchery. Both my wife Sally and I were born and breed in the local area. We currently live in Wahgunyah with our family of 3 children; Jett, Floyd and Skye. Both Sally and I attended local schools and over the years have been involved with many sporting and other local organizations.

I started my career as a Butcher back in 1995 with Kings Family Tuckerbag (now IGA Corowa) where I learnt my trade before heading to Queensland and managing various Meat Departments for the Major supermarkets. After 15 years in the industry, I decided it might be time for a change and I was offered a position in my family’s Plumbing Business in Wahgunyah where I spent many years. This role allowed me to grow my knowledge in small business management, for which I am very grateful.

After many years out of the Meat Industry, the offer to purchase Meat on the Murray came up and the thought of owing and running my own Butcher Shop had always been an interest of mine, so, here we are we are doing it! All with the help of our local staff members, and our customers, of course.

Meat on the Murray has grown to be a well-recognised Corowa business over the years and our hope is to continue to provide the local area with top products at a reasonable price with great service to match.

Meat on the Murray regularly support local businesses, charities and sporting clubs and look forward to continuing to serve the local community for many years to come.
